Elongated silvery fish, with yellow, thin but wide-forked tail. Distinct spot on the operculum (gill cover).
Conical body with hump on back, colouration varies with location. Fan shaped pectoral fins which are bright reddy-orange underneath. You may catch a glimpse of this if it moves.
