Meals

All meals are served buffet-style with a wide selection of choices at the beachfront restaurant which features an open-air terrace for those who prefer dining al fresco. Cuisine is varied and combines a tantalizing mix of International and Asian flavours made using fresh local ingredients. The team of western trained chefs are able to cater for special dietary requirements upon request.

Resort Facilities

Photographers will love the dedicated, fully air-conditioned, camera room with personal preparation areas, bright lighting and plenty of sockets. There is also a flat-screen television for viewing marine life presentations and underwater videography.

With a genuine focus on a relaxing holiday, the beachfront resort is scattered with sun loungers and hammocks, and a massage service is also provided.

Murex Bangka Dive Resort is family-friendly and can arrange childcare upon request. They have small-sized snorkeling masks and fins, and junior life jackets for those who want to use the stand-up paddleboards. For younger children and babies we have a small selection of toys, high chairs and cots available on request in advance.

Murex Bangka Dive Resort is located on the southern tip of Bangka Island, which is located on the northern tip of North Sulawesi, Indonesia.

Transfers

Murex Bangka staff will be waiting to greet you at arrivals in Manado International airport with a friendly smile, for the trip to the dive resort which is 60 minutes in a private air-conditioned vehicle followed by a 20-minute boat ride.

Murex Bangka Dive Resort offers modern Deluxe Hillside Cottages which are strategically located to give panoramic views over the ocean. These tastefully decorated, air-conditioned rooms offer comfortable indoor living and large verandas with built-in day beds. Double and twin bed sleeping configurations are available and all Deluxe Hillside Cottages feature large, en-suite indoor-outdoor bathrooms. For families and groups of friends, semi-detached options are available, allowing you to stay closer together.

Deluxe Hillside Cottages feature: King size or twin beds, en-suite with hot water showers, air conditioning throughout the night, large verandas with day beds, drinking water, and ample wall sockets and USB charging with 24-hour power.

Murex Bangka Dive Resort also offers absolute oceanfront traditionally styled timber bungalows as well as larger duplex rooms, which have adjoining doors and are perfect for families.

Oceanfront accommodation features: king-size or twin beds, en-suite hot-water bathrooms, private verandas with seating, AC and power throughout the night, and complimentary drinking water.

Dive Service

With 7 boats in the fleet, which range in size, Murex are able to offer flexible schedules and cater for private boat options as well as for larger groups of families and friends. Within a short boat ride, guests can explore the pinnacles and reefs around Bangka Island famed for its soft coral and marine life, or take a 3 dive day trip to the Bunaken Marine Park.

Murex dive boats are purpose-built for comfort and safety, and facilities onboard include shaded areas below and sun deck, toilets, non-slip steps, long ladders for easy boarding, cushioned seating, hot and cold refreshments, freshwater rinse tank for cameras, as well as, first aid kits, life jackets, emergency oxygen and spare equipment.

Please note that when diving in Bunaken Marine Park there is a (one-off) Marine Park entry fee of IDR 150,000 per diver/snorkeler.

Dive Sites

Manado Bay provides great coral and muck diving, whereas Bunaken National Park has impressive walls, points and corners.

The Murex House Reef House Reef is just a step off the beach and you’ll immediately be amazed by the bright colours, wealth of coral and abundant marine life. The House Reef is a sloping reef descending down to a white sand bottom. Along the slope, there are diverse corals and beautiful bommies which are shrouded in schools of glassfish and hiding frogfish. The House Reef is home to numerous unique critters including pygmy seahorses, blue-ribbon eels, mantis shrimps, cuttlefish, reef octopus, a variety of nudibranch species and look out for passing eagle rays

Nearby Sahaung is an iconic Bangka dive site and a firm favourite of many divers – and staff. The dive site consists of a series of underwater boulders and pinnacles that barely break the surface of the ocean. There are two dives in this area on separate pinnacles. These pinnacles consist of a continuously sloping bottom with several shelves as you descend. The dives range from 5 – 35 m. Highlights include: huge table corals, white tip reef sharks, stunning soft corals, diverse reef life, passing pelagics and schooling fish.
