Menjangan Dynasty Resort is home to the Pasir Putih Dive Centre & Watersports which is operated by Bali Hai Diving Adventures. The 5-star PADI dive centre offers year-round professionally-guided scuba diving and snorkelling excursions for beginners, families and experienced divers to the dive sites surrounding Menjangan Island and a couple on Pemuteran’s coast.
Menjangan Dynasty Resort is a 4.5 star property right on the beach, and within a 15-minute drive of West Bali National Park and Pasir Putih. It has an infinity pool and restaurant and dive centre on-site.
Menjangan Dynasty Resort is a ‘glamping’ resort which sports one and two-bedroom villas masquerading as ‘tents’. Rest assured they provide all the creature comforts required.
The Menjangan Dynasty Resort Dive Centre offers certified fun diving daily, and learning to dive is also pretty easy at the resort. The operator, Bali Hai Diving Adventures, maintains a policy of a maximum student to instructor ratio of 4:1 to insure safety and quality training for all PADI course students. Once qualified you’re ready to head out to the great dive sites around Menjangan Island.
Menjangan Dynasty Resort, near Pemuteran on the north western corner of Bali, Indonesia.
The Beach Camp Tent measures 39.5 sqm including a large open-air deck with a daybed and loungers. Each incorporates an air-conditioned sleeping area, furnished with two single beds or one queen bed. Though the decor gives the tent a safari feel, it is complete with a mini-bar-fridge, a TV with international channels and DVD player, and a picnic hamper brimming with bathroom amenities. The en suite bathrooms have tiled floor, a monsoon shower, a well-lit vanity unit with washbasin and mirror, and a toilet with a bamboo screen.
The two-bedroom Cliff Tent Villa measures 82 sqm including a large open-air deck with a 23 sqm private infinity pool. Each incorporates two air-conditioned bedrooms – one furnished with queen-size bed and the other with Hollywood twins, which convert to a double bed if required. There is a lounge room, positioned central to the two bedrooms and separated from each by full-length curtains. This cozy space is furnished with a comfortable sofa and armchairs, lit by a glitzy wooden chandelier and completed with a basketware trunk that serves as a coffee table. Full-length curtains can be drawn back to reveal the bathroom, which is fitted with a terrazzo soaking tub, a monsoon shower, a well-lit vanity unit with washbasin and mirror, and a toilet. Though the decor gives the tent a safari feel, this villa is also complete with a mini-bar-fridge, a TV with international channels and DVD player.
The dive shop is conveniently located close to the restaurant so you can pop over any time to get fitted for gear hire or find out about the diving activities.
The Resort offers daily dives on Menjangan Island. A local boat is secured for the day’s diving, and usually, you’ll go out for at least two dives in the morning; the afternoon is negotiable. The transfer out to Menjangan Island is about 45 minutes to an hour depending on the speed of the boat. Morning tea (fruit and pastries) is supplied and there’s always plenty of water to refill your bottle with. (As stated elsewhere, local fishermen have been granted exclusive rights to passenger transfers, in exchange for recognizing certain areas as no-take zones to ensure that are kept in good condition as dive sites).
Menjangan Island. Our dive guide’s favourites were Dream Wall and Coral Garden, both vertical walls that drop down to a sandy bottom at about 30m. The walls are adorned with lots of enormous Gorgonian fans and colourful sponges and soft corals. The area is within the Bali Barat National Park, a marine protected strictly No Take Zone, so expect to see lots of marine life including large schools of reef fish and plenty of turtles.
If you’d like to explore the muck diving and Bio Rock project in Pemuteran, a driver can be booked to take you through town for a couple of shore dives, with packed lunch provided. Whilst you’re there, you’d probably want to do the infamous Pemuteran Jetty muck dive. I will be very surprised just how much there is to find down there.
