Alor Divers is an intimate eco dive resort, situated on Pantar Island, with a 450m long sandy beach and a stunning house reef. To preserve the authentic atmosphere of the place, we took special care while integrating the resort into the surrounding environment. To enhance friendly ambiance and personalized service, the number of guests is limited to 16.
Just a few fin kicks away from the beach, right in front of the bungalows, the house reef is amazing: a stunning coral garden, perfect for snorkeling, and two walls separated by a slope, offering various underwater habitats to explore.
The resort is open from mid-March to mid-December, the best time of the year for underwater visibility. Summer is very pleasant with dry and cool nights; you may even consider bringing a light jacket to wear in the evening. There is almost no rain from June to October, so no mosquitos during this period. In summer the sea can be choppy to rough, but most dive sites are protected.
After more than 15 years diving, the resort owners have observed a pattern of macro life being more abundant from October to May, including nudibranchs. Coral fish are always abundant and pelagic encounters are common. Rhinopias, stars of Alor, can be spotted all-year round. Sharks are present all year long, mola mola is often spotted between July and September, and whales start to cross the strait in October.
It is possible to reach Alor every day from Jakarta and with a night in Kupang from Bali and many other cities in Indonesia (only inbound – return is only one day). For ease of the diving organization and the resort’s logistics, we implement an arrival / departure schedule and policy as follow:
- Alor airport-resort transfer is free of charge for scheduled arrival/departure days: every Wednesday and Sunday.
- Recommended flights in between Kupang and Alor (every day):
- Arrival: 09:10 – Wings Air IW1943
- Departure: 09:30 – Wings Air IW1942
Spacious bungalows are designed to complement the natural environment. Their open design and thatched roofing are inspired by traditional architecture. Seafront open structure enables the breeze to bring the natural aeration and freshness indoors. Between June and August, the nights can get surprisingly cool (blankets are provided) and for the rest of the year a wall/ceiling fan can be used for additional comfort.
Interior equipment and décor are kept simple to enhance the serenity of the surroundings. All the beds are high quality spring beds and each bed features a reading lamp and spacious mosquito net to ensure sufficient air flow. Large wooden terrace grants you a relaxing place to enjoy an impressive view over Pantar Strait and the sandy patch adjoining your bungalow features lounge chairs for additional chill out space.

Alor Divers cater as much to passionate divers as to those who like to balance their underwater adventures with island leisure.
With two single boat dives/snorkeling outings daily and unlimited access to explore 900 m of stunning house reef, the resort offers a distinctive underwater experience in Alor. They prioritise optimal entry times and the flexibility to choose dive sites based on tide, currents, and marine life activity. The schedule is unhurried, allowing you to extend your underwater exploration. This approach is appreciated by both photographers and enthusiasts of marine life intricacies that are abundant in the shallows of the tropical reefs.
Boat outings are typically in the morning and afternoon with house reef access available upon returning to the resort. On days when visiting sites further afield or during a moon phase with tricky afternoon currents, the preference is to to organise a double morning dive. On those days most guests will join in for an early afternoon house reef dive.
Frequently, and particularly around the change in moon phases, currents in Pantar Strait can be unpredictable. The resort’s dive style ensures the flexibility to do last minute adjustments on timing the water entry or even move to a different site to ensure best possible conditions.
House Reef
For over 18 years Alor Divers has strived to protect their house reef and keep it in its incredible condition. It is an impressive experience for divers and snorkelers alike: a white sand area and a stretch of sea grass in the shallows, followed by a vast coral garden delimited by a drop off where a steep slope and a vertical wall interchange. On the reef you will find impressive fish life, a kaleidoscope of corals, a number of interesting critters and an occasional pelagic surprise.
Rocks with mangrove patches on both ends are a rare opportunity for observing this unique ecosystem and its life buzz. With a dive boat being an entry/exit point for divers, your experience is stress free. There are several separate dives that can be done on the length of the reef, all offering immense beauty and outstanding diversity.
Apart from the prolific growth and staggering color palette of corals, sponges and anemones, diving in Alor is also known for its great variety of reef fishes and rich macro fauna.
There are over 40 dive sites and almost as many snorkeling sites with an incredible array of marine life – rare and interesting creatures like Rhinopias, blue ring octopus and harlequin shrimp, schooling fishes, hammerhead and thresher sharks, passing blue whales and nesting turtles in season.
Striking rock formations, never-ending walls of virgin coral and vast muck sites are combined with cloudless skies for glorious and immersive undersea adventures.
