Dive the Great Barrier Reef and explore the Far North’s ancient Daintree Rainforest

Our 11-night Great Barrier Reef and Rainforest package includes the best of two worlds, combining a 7-night dive cruise of the Ribbon Reefs and Coral Sea with our hand-picked rainforest experiences.

7-night Coral Sea and Ribbon Reefs liveaboard trip on Spirit of Freedom

Your Great Barrier Reef experience begins with a 240km journey through the rarely visited Ribbon Reefs, to the famous Cod Hole dive site. Along the ‘Ribbons’ you will encounter clouds of colourful tropical fish, an incredible variety of vibrant healthy corals, giant clams, anemones, and huge schools of cruising pelagic fish, and a family of giant potato cod.

Then it’s an overnight crossing to the famous Osprey Reef (weather permitting) in the Coral Sea, renowned for its spectacular walls of 1,000m, massive soft corals, shark action, and exceptional visibility. North Horn, at the tip of the Osprey Reef, is a site where grey reef sharks and Silvertips congregate and your chance for a close encounter shark dive where you will typically see up to 30-40 sharks on this incredible dive.

Overnight travel on the last night returns you to Cairns early on Thursday morning where you will enjoy breakfast before departing the vessel with up to 26 amazing dives to add to your logbook.

4-night Daintree Rainforest Experience

Our Daintree Rainforest Experience includes a 4-night stay at Thala Beach Nature Reserve near Port Douglas, which has sweeping views of the Coral Sea coastline and a long stretch of private beach. We have included three days of activities offering a range of rainforest experiences:

• Mossman Gorge Adventure Day – start the day with a drift-snorkel down Mossman River and then head to Mossman Gorge for a traditional welcome ceremony and guided walking tour with a local indigenous ranger. All equipment and lunch included.
• Ultimate Daintree Zipline Tour – enjoy the Daintree in a whole new way as you fly through the tree tops. You’ll explore the rainforest canopy by ziplining 15m above the ground, stroll along Cape Tribulation Beach, walk through the rainforest, then hop on a river cruise to see Cape Trib’s famous inhabitants: crocodiles. Lunch included.
• Private tour of Port Douglas Wildlife Habitat – explore unique habitats, hand-feed iconic Australian animals, cuddle a koala, say hi to the majestic saltwater crocodiles, and learn about conservation efforts in this award-winning, eco-certified nature park. Lunch included.
• Thala Beach Nature Reserve. During your stay at Thala, you’ll enjoy a range of free activities, including guided walks through the nature reserve and coconut plantation, star gazing and bird watching.
