Identify as a pufferfish through lack of spines, paddle-like pectoral fins, posterior and anal fins. Slow ungainly swimmer. Blackspotted is also called the dog-faced which is probably the easiest way to distinguish this variant. Colour can be anything from bright yellow, to brown to white to blue-topped. Female is usually pale in colour.
