Adults: Solid red; juvs: very specific three barred pattern as shown, ranging from bright red to brown.
As juveniles grow, white on body diminishes, but white dashes remain.
Juveniles have black body with broad white stripe down the lateral line; white belly joined by white round the back of the head. White dashes on back already present.
Silvery body with lines of black dots to tail; yellow anal and tail fins with red tips and clear dorsal fin.
White below the lateral line, with brown strip below to belly; and brown strip above, but with dark grey back, with three distinct white spots.
