Mellow Yellow on Midway Reef near Vatu-i-ra is named after the large population of yellow soft corals decorating the current facing side. I think the “Mellow” part of the name comes from how it makes you feel. Have a look at this single take video clip as we traverse around the pinnacle wall and you’ll see what scuba diving Mellow Yellow is all about.
Tell me if that didn’t make you feel mellow!
There’s yellow everywhere – including the angels and butterflyfish.
Schools of Scalefin and Bi-coloured Anthias so thick you can’t see through them.
Don’t get hung up on looking just at the schooling fish, check the cracks and crevasses for small shrimp, nudibranchs, Scorpionfish and other macro life.
One of our expert Ra Divers dive Guides found this little pop-corn shrimp – literally the shape and size of a couple of pop-corn kernels.
This part of Fiji is not called the soft coral capital of the Pacific for nothing.
Check out the colours.
It makes this Star pufferfish look like he’s being shot in Black & White.
