Wonderwall is a long wall from 5 to 30m adorned with beautiful corals and anemones and commensal marine life from gobies and anthias to cute pufferfish.
The middle of the reef on the western side, has quite a steep fall to about 25 m. A certain part of the wall has cascaded down leaving a half cone of material which is strewn with small corals, and mushroom corals in particular.
There are many other types of coral at all depths.
The visibility is such that you can see the bottom of the wall from the top.
There are translucent shrimps living in the anemones,
As well as the usual (unamused!) clowns.
Sunset and moon wrasse play with their little blue friends.
A seven armed seastar hides his extra digitis.
An eyebar goby eyes us up as we pass,
And a blackspotted puffer takes an afternoon nap, looking for all the world like a tired puppy.
Meanwhile back on the reeftop, a Threadfin anthias gets a clean.
It’s nice to know, that even when it’s not being observed by us, life on the reef carries on, in its own special way.
