Location: | Just off the western shores of Pulau Mamutik |
Pyramid is a squat flat topped mount sitting on a sandy bottom at 18 m just off Pulau Mamutik. The terrain differs markedly across the site: areas of coral, some big stacks, and rocky areas where you’ll find all manner of stuff. It’s a dive that’ll give you the big and the small in stark juxtaposition..
The dive proceeds from the sand in an anticlockwise spiral up to the flat top at about 7m. It’s a dive that’ll give you the big and the small in stark juxtaposition. This Creamy Chromodoris was the first to catch my eye.
And then False Clown anemonefish who with their mock charges pitch all of their 9g of body weight against my 90 Kg!
The Pearly Monocle Bream makes a change from the banded sea perch, which litter this and other adjacent sites.
The landscape is not even, there are rocky stacks sheltering sweeps and home to feather-stars…
And feather duster worms aplenty.
Also, in amongst the rocks and reef you’ll find more critters, small and big, like this tube anemone, ..
The little Banded coral shrimp, and …
And pretty big Yellow margin Moray.
As well as the amazingly shaped sponges, you’ll also find blue coral sheets in amazing good condition.
It’s nice to know that the people who dive here are looking after the reef.
