The main attractions Diving South Australia include diving with great white sharks in the Neptune Islands, the giant cuttlefish aggregation in Whyalla and leafy seadragons, which are found nowhere else in the world.
Many of South Australia’s dive sites are accessible as easy shore dives, with great diving (and leafy seadragons) to be found at Edithburgh Jetty, Rapid Bay Jetty, Second Valley, Port Noarlunga Reef, the Bluff in Victor Harbour and Port Hughes Jetty.
For the more adventurous, travel down to Port Lincoln to get up close and personal with Great White Sharks at the Neptune Islands or take a dip with the puppy dogs of the sea, Australian Sea Lions.
Some of South Australia’s diving destinations, including those on the Fleurieu Peninsula including Second Valley and Rapid Bay are a short drive from Adelaide.
Those further afield include Edithburgh, Whyalla and Port Lincoln. The Neptune Islands lie roughly halfway between Port Lincoln and Kangaroo Island and are accessed via liveaboard and day boats from Port Lincoln.
Getting There
Adelaide Airport is accessible from all main Australian cities and many international countries. Whyalla and Port Lincoln are easily accessed by air from Adelaide International Airport by QantasLink and Regional Express.
