Nautilus Explorer – Socorro, Baja

Nautilus Explorer liveaboard is a luxury ocean-going steel-hulled vessel offering 8-night dive trips to see the megafauna of Mexico’s Socorro & Guadalupe Islands. See giant mantas, dolphins, hammerhead, Galapagos and whale sharks at Socorro between December and June and dive the Sea of Cortez from July to November.

Accommodation & Facilities

Nautilus Explorer has space for up to 25 guests. There are four suites, all located on the upper deck: three Superior Suites with big windows, a wardrobe, desk and outside doors. One Premium Suite with big windows, separate bedroom and sitting area, a wardrobe, coffee table and a bathroom including bathtub. There is central air conditioning for all suites.

The lower deck, the Nautilus Explorer has nine cabins, all central air-conditioned with a separate toilet and shower in each. The eight staterooms have 2 beds side by side and one has 3 beds. Each bed has a curtain for privacy and a small reading light. Power outlets are standard US 2 flat pin sockets for 110V electricity.

Facilities

Nautilus Explorer is a modern and comfortable vessel with a spacious air-conditioned lounge with TV/DVD and a separate dining area for guests to relax and meet. It also has a small sun deck with a Jacuzzi and a large dive deck. Several sea kayaks are available to guests free of charge.

Trips to Socorro and the Sea of Cortez operate from Cabo San Lucas in Baja California, Mexico.

Dive service

Diving is done from the vessel’s three dive skiffs. Life jackets must be worn by all passengers during trips on the skiffs.

Two to three dives are offered per day, depending on the daily dive activities and the activities ashore. The dives are offered at set times at designated dive sites. After a detailed briefing, divers can dive independently with their buddies. Nitrox is available at extra charge.

Dive areas

The Nautilus Belle Amie visits both the Socorro Islands and the Sea of Cortez in their best seasons. Depending on when you can go, or depending on what you want to see, these are two very different trips. You can select a trip from the live availability shown below.
