Levuka has two very accessible dive sites just a short tender ride from Levuka Wharf. Levuka Bay has some coral covered bommies on a sea grass and sand base at just 3 to 6 m making for very easy diving. As this video shows, these bommies at Levuka are teaming with little reef fish, such as the humbugs, damsels and anthias.
And here are some pictures showing the variety of marine life diving Levuka.
Each of the fish has a preference for their coral types: Humbugs in the pocillopora, neons in the acropora, damsels in the plate coral, and the larger reef fish hiding in the staghorn. The natural light makes this a great site for photography.
Levuka Passage which is also called Levuka Pipeline is a little further out towards the channel marker, but also a very easy and accessible scuba dive.
Isolated bommies give way to a sandy slope with broken coral – it’s the kind of place where you focus on the small stuff. There are soft corals and anemones dotted amongst the hard corals and a great variety of critters from hermit crabs
to Morays.
There are also plenty of sea anemones scattered about home to the uniquely single banded Fijian anemonefish.
