Vomo Resort’s Shark Alley dive site comprises two long coral covered slopes separated by a sandy gully: the Shark’s Alley in which white tipped reef sharks can often be found cruising or resting. The shark alley is only a part of the dive, the long slopes have colourful coral cover at the top, home to the usual pretty little reef fish, and larger marine creatures further down the slope. Here’s a chilled one minute clip from a dive at Shark Alley.
The scuba diving follows a slope which varies from gently sloping to almost vertical, with fusiliers plying up and down in the steeper areas.
In the steepest parts, there are crevices, cracks and almost caverns to explore and swim through.
Like all the steeper slopes around Vomo, the walls are decorated with sea fans. Anthias and damsels adorn the shallower areas of the reef, which the Shark Alley itself is just a flat sandy bottom.
And the quality and colours of the corals has to be seen to be believed.
